01 GIANT Canon Video Projector

Described by its creator as a large colorful bird which under its soft and sensual lines hides a treasure of technology – this is the “01 GIANT” Canon video projector. Designed by Jerome Olivet, this elegant beast is designed right beside a touch sensor remote called the “Racer” and a touch pad called “Stone,” both for Orange TV. You’ll see the similarities in the sculpted aesthetics immediately. One finds that when a fantastic look is acquired, one uses it in little ways throughout ones life.

Projectors Galore

Projectors, projectors, here and there, projectors, projectors, projecting on everywhere. According to Gareth Marples, the first conceptual drawing of a projector was done in 1420 by Johannes de Fontana: a drawing of a monk with a lamp projecting a vision of a devil holding a lance.

Mint Sputnik: Projection in Orbit!

You communist! You love projectors too. It’s been 52 years since the former USSR launched Sputnik. In celebration of the fabulous designtastic shape of the Sputnik, and due to the meaning of Sputnik: “traveling companion,” this entertainment companion is sure to get your eyeballs and mind straight into outer space – tout de suite! It’s a projector with a cuteness!

This design goes by the name “Mint Sputnik” and it’s just super cute as all heck. Not only does the projector look just like an alternate-reality Sputnik I, it’s got a little space center controller!

It’s got all your normal controls – on/off, next/previous, angle/focus/channel/volume, but then it’s got a quick clock switch, radio and music functions as well. Also a 1950’s feel. That display screen looking thing there is an actual display screen, info is shown in black and white on it, and it’s got the classic Cathode Ray Tube TV panel BULGE. On the control center’s backside there’s a USB port, SD card slot, and earphones jack. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and ZigBee are all supported.

When not in use by parents, a child TV it will be.

When not in use by kids, a cat clock it will be.

When not in use by the cat, off it’ll be.

"Maptor" projects the desired map

Maptor is this wonderful combination of a map and projector that (predictably) projects the desired map onto any surface. Palm of the hand, floor, and walls included. What I really fancy about it, is its size. Small enough to pass off as a lipstick (or a chapstick for you guys), the device is discreet enough for you to quickly hop into a quiet corner, check for directions and make your way forth. All this without anyone knowing that you are lost or need help!

Another good thing about the Maptor is that it has GPS included; as a result there is this big red arrow on the map that points to your current location. Therefore getting your bearings and charting your course is easy.

Although the images of the projected map look visible enough even in daylight, I wonder if it’s really going to be that clear in its practical avatar.

Anyways, I think this project has the potential to make it to the market and be a hit, I would love to get one for my husband, who hates to ask for directions!

Levitating Ball Is Actually A Projector

Geist Projector thinks itself to be a levitating fakir, but sadly it’s not! The magic happens coz of the electromagnetic field, which makes the “projector ball” levitate on the base. This gives an almost unlimited amount of mobility to the image projection field. The system keeps audio-visual reproduction as priority and thus is compatible with the multitude of recording formats available in the market. The projector base splits up into 4 parts and consists of the speakers, battery pack, input slots and card slots. Take a look at the detailed slides inside for all the info.

Pocket Projector Turns Mobile Into Remote

Nokia Pulse Projector is a project aimed at expanding the mobile communication experience and finding new ways to interact. It’s a device that has been designed to expand and strengthen mobile applications while working in conjunction with mobile phones. It combines a LED-projector and a NXT-speaker with Dolby sound processing in to a solid multimedia device. Using the accompanying Pulse software and Bluetooth, one can convert a mobile phone into an interactive remote that controls this unique multimedia player.

The Nokia Pulse relies on DLP Technology for high quality imagery when using the projector. Native resolution of 1280×768 and 1500:1 contrast ratio pimps out crisp image quality, with picture sizes ranging from 15 inches diagonally all the way up to 60 inches at 7.87 feet. It even sports LED light technology with 1000 lumens of brightness plus 16.7 million colors.

It’s Raining Pictures From My Shower

When you see a sleek little projector like this Photo Shower, you expect it to be packed with tech-specs and groundbreaking features; but NO! No, no, no! It DOES NOT boast of any such things, in fact it goes out of the way to ensure that you get the point: It’s a simple uncomplicated projector. It’s USP; it pours images down the screen like the cascade from a shower head; that’s it! Drops of photos trickle down the screen. Functions on the device are pretty basic but it sure scores high on the glam quotient.

Sometimes simple devices re-packaged in a glamorous avatar could be the things that we look for in life. For example I’m sure many of you may have been content with browsing through your photos from albums. The joy of developing a film roll and seeing the end results has its own old-world charm. However innovation was necessary, hence we see digital cameras and digital picture frames peppering our lives. I wonder how many of us find that same pleasure when we browse through buttons of a frame as we did when we leafed through the book albums.

Rustic, nostalgic, old, whatever!
If I have to give-in to the current trends, then I may as well adopt easy-to-operate projectors that spill out images from a shower head! As long as they go with my décor; I’m good!
