Eggy-Blob for Television President

What in the heck is this thing? Is it an egg? Is it a blob? Nay! It’s eggyblob -I mean, actually, the “Infinity Remote Control.” Designed by Damien Crossan, this remote was designed to fit a model of a possible remote 7 to 10 years from now. This remote utilized “4G” technology, lithium polymer batteries, and flexible touchscreens. And for its next trick, separation anxiety!

Braille E-Book

Visually challenged people require braille books in order to read. However, not many books are available in braille due to cost and inefficiency. Translating a 500 page book into braille nearly doubles the thickness. EAP is a technology that can dynamically change the surface pattern by way of an electromagnetic signal - simulating braille text. Not exactly a new idea but a nice executive nonetheless.

Lacie External Harddrive

This external harddrive aims to break the traditional “box” shape and stack on into infinity. This is the conceptual “Lacie S2.0? by seasoned Yanko veteran Pedro Gomes. The front of this magical containment device displays in its eye the amount of free space contained within as well as the drive’s name. The back is a simple combination of plugs: two USB 3.0 and a DC, and the enclosure shape is one that stacks well and looks perfectly fabulous on its own.

01 GIANT Canon Video Projector

Described by its creator as a large colorful bird which under its soft and sensual lines hides a treasure of technology – this is the “01 GIANT” Canon video projector. Designed by Jerome Olivet, this elegant beast is designed right beside a touch sensor remote called the “Racer” and a touch pad called “Stone,” both for Orange TV. You’ll see the similarities in the sculpted aesthetics immediately. One finds that when a fantastic look is acquired, one uses it in little ways throughout ones life.

External Refrigerator From Electrolux

It’s interesting to so how cultural practices can trigger off inspiration to design a product that can be an extension of the same. For instance in India we usually keep pickles on our window sill, to marinate and cook them in the natural heat. Whereas in China, because of their cold conditions, food is kept outside the window to preserve it, plus it frees up the kitchen space.

MAS Yacht 36

The famous quote ‘Size doesn’t matter for chopping wood’ of Jerry from ‘Mother in Manville’ suddenly came to my mind while checking out the images of MAS Yacht 36. This tiny powerboat, with a shape and size of a conventional speedboat, which was actually inspired by combining the mid 20th century car lines with the yard’s first “MAS28E”, features enough space and facilities inside to spend a long weekend with a lot of pleasurable activities in the middle of the sea.

The Car of Light

This car goes by the name “The Car of Light,” which, as I’m sure you’re about to see, means more than just a pretty shininess. This vehicle’s creation process began with a dissertation experienced by the designer on the effects of light on human’s senses and how it affects the shape of objects, especially vehicles. Heavy subject matter! And how elegant a car it doth create in the end.

In the process of creating this car, designer Jong Won Lee discussed with himself and others how interesting it is that humans, as a species, seem to adapt to industry development in how the light directs the eye. There is a visual wealth in light, he finds, and in this new age of low-power-usage with high-brightness, why not indulge? Light em up!

HTC 1 Mobile

AKA how simple can you design a mobile phone? Pretty darn simple. Designer Andrew Kim had a qualm with the HTC group, that being the fact that there’s no real perfectly simple way to differentiate between lots of “lower-end” phones and “premium models”, especially in the HTC line. So what’s he do? He simplifies. Don’t you see, everyone, we’re in the age of simplicity! The age of graphic design perfection, where the Bauhaus school of design handed us down the square shapes, so perfect in proportions that it took us 50 years to accept it! Here’s the “HTC 1.”

Walnut Player for Music

You learn something new every single day. Today I learned a term for an action for which, before today, I did not know the name of. It’s “walnut rolling” and it applies to the spinning of two spherical objects in your hand. You’ve done it before, I’m sure. Designer YuKwang Kang took this action and turned it into an MP3 player. It’s the aptly named “Walnut Player” to the rescue! Spin me some music!

Bentley “Jeckyll and Hyde”

When you’ve got a whole barrel full of money, that is, when you’re completely rich, you have the luxury of choosing your own ultra-fabulous car. And when you do, you want not only a beautiful interior and exterior, not only do you want a fabulously running car, you want it to say something! I don’t mean like knightrider, no, I mean you want it to be an expression of who YOU are. This is the Bentley “Jeckyll and Hyde.”

Be you evil? Be you nice? Be you a monster? Be you a professor of speed?

Designer Bora Kim didn’t just want one car. Thustly, there are two. This Jeckyll and Hyde concept goes along the lines of what Kim predicts will be the next wave of high-class cars – “Eco Luxury.” That being conscious of how what you’re purchasing is effecting the environment you’re going to drive it in. It’s just smart, yes?

Nokia Kinetic

It’s not a hot-blonde-Sony or gorgeous Apples, but plain simple laws of physics that causes this Nokia to get an erection! The physical kind! I mean the Kinetic kind! The concept is this, for every incoming call, text, email or alarm, the phone gets super excited and gets…standing tall! Yup the brief was to make the phone as playful as possible…as if a vibration mode was not enough! And if it’s not the right person calling or the alarm too soon…simply tap the phone back to deflate the …erection! Umm…cold shower won’t do!

Portable Heating Device for Comfortable Cooking

We have learned in our lifetime, that you cannot cook your food on a rainy day, while outside, because it would be like going surfing on a lake. Thanks to this ingenious device, all of that is now known as nonsense. Introducing, The Snail. This small device is designed by Peter Alwin, and he probably is among those whom in their childhood tried to light a fire during pouring rain. I know I did. The name was inspired by the familiar aspect of a common snail that would stick naturally to anything. This device has been designed to stick to metal utensils, there are magnets on the bottom silicon base. The Snail, has a distinctive shape, it’s small, lightweight, and very clever. It’s a portable heating and cooking device, and it’s based on magnetic induction processes and it sticks directly onto any cooking pots to heat their contents.

LG Exo Smartphone Concept

You got to agree that the skeletal system is a genius of design; it protects the delicate organs inside while giving support to our lustrous skin. If we were to apply the same design for our mobile phones then it’s quite possible to wipe out the peripheral “phone covers and cases” industry. I’m talking about the LG Exo Smartphone Concept. The key feature in this concept is a high strength polymer exoskeleton for protecting the delicate internal components while supporting its external rubber skin.
